About Neil Diamond
Neil Diamond has enjoyed a long and successful career. Throughout the years, he has maintained a loyal base of fans, as well as gaining new fans that enjoy his lyrics and music. Diamond grew up in New York City, where he quickly plunged into singing and performing. He sang as part of different groups throughout his school years. As a member of his school choir, he performed alongside Barbra Streisand. At the beginning of his career, Diamond started to gain fame as a songwriter. At first, he wrote songs for himself. But during the mid-sixties, his songs “I’m a Believer,” “Love to Love,” and others were released by The Monkees. The success of those songs gave Neil Diamond publicity and helped his transition into fame as a singer and songwriter.
Neil Diamond released multiple albums during the late sixties, including The Feel of Neil Diamond, Just for You, Velvet Gloves and Spit and Touching You, Touching Me, but it was the next decade that made Diamond a star. During the seventies, he released a total of seven platinum selling albums, three of which went multi platinum. Among the multi platinum albums were I’m Glad You’re Here With Me Tonight and You Don’t Bring Me Flowers.
As his career took off, Neil Diamond tickets became a hot item in music. Fans would come out to see him sing songs from his many albums including The Jazz Singer (1980). The Jazz Singer was the soundtrack to the film by the same name and Neil Diamond’s most successful album at that point. The album went platinum five times and included three top ten singles with “America,” “Love on the Rocks” and “Hello Again.”
